Spent very quickly on what?
Kitting out an entire group of 8 in 15K armour?
Buying one of every single green in Cantha?
What?!
I honestly can't imagine anything that I would spend that much cash on...... so I can't relate... unless its some Guild-related thing. I'm a Ronin, so I don't involve myself in that stuff (ironic, considering the name of the game).

I'm suprised no one's mentioned the age-old rule "Pics or it never happened." But yea that ecto farmer is just spouting such utter horseshit. If what that poster said is true that means he sleeps for about 6 hours (which he mentioned), never eats, never relieves himself of waste, never moves, and has no social life. He's probably riddled in bed sores as well for staying in a chair for about 18 hours. LOL HAY GUYZ HOW ABOUT MY 10 GOLD R8 COLOSSAL SCIMITARS?!
Back on topic I haven't farmed UW in about 3 months since Europe zerg-rushed HA and stole favor, but even then I found it hard to get a stack of ectos without inflicting physical and social harm on yourself. In a 4-man trapper run I spend 250g for about a 2 hour run in the hopes that SOMEONE in our team gets an ecto. And not only are they quite rare, people are buying them up and no one is selling them to the trader, hence impacting the sale price.

I too am poor...I probably have 2 ectos and maybe 200plat amongst all my characters...
I agree with Soto...I have a necro...I looked at FOW armor...not interested...most people likeascended kurzick for Necors....which is precisely why I have primeval armor...it is hideous, due doe not show up well and well...I have only seen one other person with a full set...
SO where would 1M plat go? how many sets of armor do you need? do all of yout characters need an Urgotz flatbow just to pull?
Seriously, this thread was just amusing...I consider myself pretty hardcore spending 3-4 hours a night AFTER work, After playing with my kid/putting her to bed and after my wife goes to bed/lays down on the couch...
Who has time to worry about the fluctuating price of ectos? who really cares? I spend my gold on two things...buying a cool looking set of armor for my character (which I make each character finance) and invites for my guild...
Am I missing out on the whole GW experience? I hope not...Otherwise I have been wasting my time just having fun these past 7 months.

You're joking about being poor right? All I have on my characters is the potential for 100k. QQ

*hands up* I sell my ecto to the merchant. Can't be bothered with WTS spamming and i just hold onto them until the merch price is good to sell.
Considering a perfect ele sword might sell for 700k it doesn't take long to spend 1mill, or buy gems for coffers, or a mallyx
But considering the 50 ecto a day guy doesn't do anything but UW farm 24/7 he either a) has 100mules storing it all for no reason whatsoever or b) is one of the aforementioned ebay sellers
I have been meaning to try the ele/mes build, but only because i haven't got around to trying it yet. Nerfs don't effect solo trapping but my preferred choice is still 55Mes for fun, the SV/AV changes don't change much other than slowing down the smite kills, only problem i have now is i have to actually interrupt nightmares instead of just wanding them ;p

The quickest I went through gold was 7 million in a week or so as I wanted to make all my chars pvp ready.
fow armor
making every single char pvp ready. and by pvp ready I dont mean one sword and shield with nice stats. For me pvp ready is having weapons for every situation so for war they have elemental, vamp, zealous, +30hp, +5 armor. Once done my main account had no space as every slot was used up by items.
@ uw farmer who farms real fast. how many ectos do you have atm? and can you post some pics so everyone stops bitching. would clear your name....

the ecto farmer is going to hide now. Or he's going to accumulate 250 via eBay and do some photoshop hax. Or he's telling the truth about his ecto farming abilities. If that is the case, I have one more reason to feel really, REALLY good that I only spend 2-3 hours a day on Guild Wars. Social life ftw.

TBH IF it is true I feel very very sorry for him/her.
The rediculously rich I know either old school farmed which was easy ecto/gold for the time put in, ran, power traded or ebayed. The four I mentioned are waaay faster than farming atm and never really ate up your life. Normal farming/Pre nerf farming is majorly ftl.
Im suprised I havnt seem the individual being discussed throwing around major gold on the ventaris sale or posting expensive armor sets in screenshot forum...
Some people (not sure who as too lazy to look) said he/she may be gold seller. Well... 50 ecto per day is like say 500k. 500k is like $30 to sell for $$$. TBH I would rather get a normal job or a paper round or something which can earn that amount in waaay less time.
I believe the following is most relevant to this situation: -
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"

Because not all builds are as easy as you say they are, and noone's selling to trader, but people are buying from him.

The Herbalizer,
I agree. I think we should call for evidence on his claim.... But I have no faith that we'll see any. Well un-edited (photoshop-ed)
Un-till then I refuse to engage with 'the poster' any more, old saying something about fighting a fool and looking foolish

Possible Flame bait. My dear Roshi, we raise thousands of Guru trolls on this forum using the exacting science of injecting Searing Flames into their genetic code. they flame these type of posts until there are not even ashes left.
Oh well, useless thread. Mod should close this before the flaming fires spread to new areas.
Cheers,
Rahjmeister.

#1. FoW armour is, as far as I'm aware, not inherantly better than Kaineng Centre armour in its original grey... Won't help your PvP performance... though I suppose if you've got it for credability then it might help get into teams (or make people attack you on sight, perceiving you as a real threat). Why spend over 75K when you can get statistically the same deal for 7.5K?
#2. Weapons... while I have a few greens lying about for various purposes (mostly randomly dropped ones), many of my weapons are randomly encountered gold weapons, left unchanged and costing me nothing. Along similar lines, I tend to deck heroes out with collector weapons.... often unmoddable Wand + Focus sets for spellcasters (which can be better than unmodded staves in many respects)... though a few have modded collector weapons. It really doesn't cost that much... but they're as good as any green.
While I can see you'd need a lot of kit to be totally PvP prepared.... it needn't cost even a tenth of what you're suggesting unless you're just in it for showing off... basically...
And when I wanna show off... I pull out my post-Shiro Adept weapons... because they're pretty... ^_^ ... and cost me.... oh yeah.... nothing.
O'course I am saving up for a few sets of 15K armour... but thats less for any statistical advantage and more so I have something pretty to wear when I'm pratting around in Shing Jea Monastary trying to get the Drunkard and Incorrigable Ale-Hound titles (alongside all the other boozers there). Same reason why I wanna get my hands on CE Factions... Chae Soon demands backing-dancers!

#1 credibility in pvp groups (at least the good ones) isn't given by the armor, if you use 15k armor or fow or vabbian or whatever armor you like is because a)you can afford it, b)you like your pve chars to be pvp ready, c)they look good ^_^
#2 yes, you can get almost any weapon with the right stats from a collector or crafter, but then there we go back to #1, people use golds because they can afford it, is like saying "why would you buy a ferrari to go to work, when a daewoo can do the same and it is cheaper?"
and back to the OP, pics or never happened

...... So people need vast amounts of money to buy things they don't need to buy? .....
I mean I can understand getting 15k armour as an occasional luxury over a larger span of time..... but its not necessary for making a PvE character "PvP-ready"... They'll do just as well in cheaper armour..... let alone every single character on an account in one go. I don't think I'd ever be able to go through that much cash in such a short space of time on entirely unnecessary decorum.
I mean theoretically one could spend any amount of money in GW.... any amount whatsoever.... but then I'm talking about effective spending... rather than something which could be considered along the same lines as burning the stuff.
In case you're wondering, I'd go to work in the Daewoo rather than the Ferrari. Spending more money just because you have more money is retarded.... IMHO.

if this was reality i would agree with you 100%. However, this is GW, theres no interest being earned with my 1000k in the storage. Alot of people spend because they have the spending power. the 1000k in storage might as well not be there if you don't spend it. spending it gives you reasons to earn more money. its a nasty cycle.
